Whom to blame?

Hi Madurai Folks,

Whom should I blame for our situation today we are in?

I am one of the guys who came back from US from a lucrative job in Software, to start and do business in my native place, Madurai for a brighter future and also to stay in my home town and flourish in the business we are in.

I understand businesses will have problems to run, but what benefit does government do to small companies like us? The government does not need to do favour or donations to small companies. But, at least they can be the basic infrastructure!

Government gives following benefits to the small companies -

1) Power cuts
2) Price rises
3) Increase in power rates
4) Increase in all product prices
5) Increase in taxes
6) Increase in bus fares
7) Increase in petrol or diesel prices
and much more.

We have power cuts starting from morning and all through out the day.

Morning 6 AM to 7:30 AM
Morning 9 AM to 12 noon
Afternoon 3 PM to 6 PM
Night 9:30 PM to 10:30 PM

At times in between these times also power will go off. Even in the nights, it is upto the Electricity department to cut the power.

How can small companies and shops who depend on computer, machineries to run their business expected to run? How can we make some profit? How can we maintain the employees? How can we bear the employees idle in the office without work?

We are making loss, oh Mr. or Mrs. Government! Oh, Dear TNEB (Electricity Department)! This is the return you give to people who live in the city?

I feel it is probably better to live in foreign countries and prosper, probably!

Don't even talk about small business growth. Don't even talk about income tax from us! Service tax..come on!

You are not doing any favor to us.

Because of your poor planning, why should we bear the losses? We are NOT in a position to buy a generator. We are not in a position to buy huge inverters. Only for 1 hour we can back up with small inverters. Not all small businesses can afford these kind of generators.

When there is not sufficient power, do proper planning or you should have planned properly. Because of your carelessness, the small businesses are suffering.

Why do you need Collector, commissioner, so many MLAs, MPs, Mayors, etc., for running this utter flop government.

Provide constant power, do not price hike in all the items. This will lead to JOB losses, companies closing etc., You are making the Tough times!! It is not happenning by itself!!!

Alternate ways of Power Generation is considered in Madurai Corporation

As the state is facing strong power inadequacy, the Madurai Corporation has commenced emphasising on energy generation from alternate steps like solar and bio-ethanol. During the council meeting held yesterday, a resolution has been passed to call tenders from eligible firms to establish solar projects in the corporation under the Public Private Partnership (PPP).

The resolution claimed that power supply for corporation requiring such as pumping stations and taxation centres had considerably rise after the corporation limits have been expanded from 72 wards to 100 wards. With the rising energy needs, the corporation has decided to select eligible players for solar power projects. After receiving government nod, they will moving ahead with calling for the tenders via PPP.

The present demand of the city can be projected to vary between 160 MW-180 MW per day for 4.16 lakh connections in the city.

Madurai Corporation passed important resolution on green energy to produce bio-ethanol and e-diesel by using the extra 250 tonnes of garbage generated from the newly annexed areas of the corporation. The resolution also consisted of producing electricity from bio-ethanol.

Why is Power cut heavily in Tamil Nadu - Madurai, Trichy, Coimbatore?

Why is heavy power cut in other parts of Tamil Nadu, than Chennai?

Are human beings not living in other parts of Tamil Nadu, than Chennai?
There is only 1 or 2 hours power cut in Chennai, while there is around 10 hours erratically happenning in Madurai, Trichy and Coimbatore. Why is this heavy partiality?

Can't that be 4 hours in Chennai and 3 hours in Madurai? This is not fair on the government. In fact, Chennai folks have UPS, Inverter, Generator etc., and they have the capability to purchase such things and run their businesses. But the business and small companies in Madurai will not be able to address these power problems with heavy correction infrastructure for Power refilling.

This makes heavy loss for all the industries in Madurai, Trichy, Coimbatore, Tirupur etc., I know many companies and factories are closing down and they cannot keep their employees idle in the working time, when the power is not there.

The problems happen and I accept there is some difficulty for the government to get power. But, why this much time? Definitely, this is a failure point and black point for this government. What are the Ministers doing? What are the IAS officers doing? What are the Councillors doing? What are the NGOs doing?

Overall, why there is no protest from the people or organizations? Is everyone afraid of this government and not doing any protest against ruling government? In that case, how bad this government and where is the democracy in this?

Tamil Nadu Government - Please do something to bring us to light with some power!? Even if the power is expensive, at least that is fine in some sense.
Ultimate sufferers are the poor people, Small and Medium Companies in non-Chennai - Other parts of tamil nadu - Madurai, Trichy, Coimbatore, Erode, Salem, Tirupur etc.,!!

What do you think about Power cuts in Tamil Nadu? If you just do power cut for 9:00 AM to 12 noon and 2:30 to 6 PM, how do you think we can run offices in Madurai?

How do you expect entrepreneurship to grow in Madurai, if you do power cuts for almost whole day every day? We work on computers and we need power. As a small business, we do not have strength to run companies with big UPS investments for computers. We pay proper taxes in all manners, but why do we have to get punished with power cuts?

This is completely not acceptable, if you just cut power for long hours. One or two hours in a day is accepted.

This is utter shame on the government!!

Power cuts in Madurai Trichy Coimbatore Chennai Tamil Nadu - Very bad on Tamil Nadu Government

Power cuts are very bad. How do you expect us to run businesses depending upon computers and electronic machines. This is very bad. We pay taxes - we pay income tax, sales tax, service tax. Everything is being done from our side. But why does the government treat us like this?

Government tells us to develop entrepreneurship and develop businesses, so that more number of employment can be created. But, if the government does like this, how will we improve our business and how will we improve our revenue. We will have to run out of loss and then close our businesses.

This is the cry of employers. We cannot hold our knowledge workers (employees) just sitting idle before the computer, when the computer is off.

People are coming back to our country to do businesses in our own land, but the government is not supporting us. Even the few who are coming to our country will go back to foreign countries and also who is studying here will not stay here.

This is too bad on the government and this is killing our own economy.
