Probably, if Udhayachandran, Madurai Collector takes a look at it, it might be helpful.

By the way - Did you know about Madurai Collector?

In 1999, in Kancheepuram, he was a DRDA planning officer. In 2001, INCOSERV Kunnoor Managing Director. He worked in TASMARC. He was also in fact - Chennai Deputy Commissioner.

He was also the managing director of ELCOT company. This is the first time he is becoming a collector and that too for Madurai, after his 11 years IAS career.

TN Chapter of CII will stress on IT park in Madurai

The Tamil Nadu Chapter of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) said that it would stress on establishing IT parks in Madurai, Trichy and Coimbatore in the coming financial year.

They pointed out that the recent survey on Skill Mapping in Tamil Nadu State showed a gap between 'what the industries want' and what is 'available out there in quality and quantity - CII would promote skill development initiatives.

Looks like CII is going to work with ITIs and engineering colleges to fill this gap.

Muthamil - A Different Website!!

Check out this site Muthamil.
I found this website different because of his(A Gentleman called Balachandran) opinions - sometimes it is amateurish and sometimes valid.

His articles are with pictures and it matches too.

One interesting thing is - I was not able to guess Mr.Balachandran's age - after his writings also!?

Another thing I noted about this person is he is Pro-Jayalalitha - Pro-ADMK!

Job market is looking really hot in southern districts of Tamil Nadu

The outsourcing game is really missing something these days in Metros. The cost of living and business has become expensive these days in the metros like Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore etc., for all the software businesses - which work on onsite and offshore model.

This model is nothing but have very few consultants onsite for coordination and get all of the work done by the offshore team in India. That seem to become expensive in Metros too.

So now, industry experts feel that - now industrialist and entrepreuners are looking for investing in Tier II and Tier III cities like Madurai, Coimbatore etc., which is wonderful!

There are so many good colleges in the southern districts of Tamil Nadu and it can definitely serve the man power needs very clearly.

In the next three years time - we are looking for good amount of placements(including campus placements) in Madurai, new industries - especially software businesses. If you are a software engineer - you can find a job in Madurai very shortly.

Many manufacturing and service industry companies are looking upto IT businesses to help in their businesses - for higher productivity and in more revenue generation.

Also about the retention of the employees - it is more about keeping them busy with challenging work - It is the only way you can keep them with your company, and prevent them from moving to the metros. We cannot get deposit or have them sign in contracts etc.,

Anyway, Going great for Tier II and Tier III cities like Madurai.

Made In Madurai Team is very happy about this.

Looks like the editor is T.R.R, but not Actor cum politician T.Rajendran, I guess. Please correct me, if I am wrong. One more information is they are online from 1997, looks like!

These kind of neutral and unpopular newspapers has to become popular among the people, for the best interests of the democracy.

Knowledge is power - A nice inspirational story

WHERE TO TAP

Ever heard the story of the giant ship engine that failed? The ship's owners tried one expert after another, but none of them could figure but how to fix the engine. Then they brought in an old man who had been fixing ships since he was a youngster. He carried a large bag of tools with him, and when he arrived, he immediately went to work. He inspected the engine very carefully, top to bottom.

Two of the ship's owners were there, watching this man, hoping he would know what to do. After looking things over, the old man reached into his bag and pulled out a small hammer. He gently tapped something. Instantly, the engine lurched into life. He carefully put his hammer away. The engine was fixed! A week later, the owners received a bill from the old man for ten thousand dollars.

"What?!" the owners exclaimed. "He hardly did anything!"

So they wrote the old man a note saying, "Please send us an itemized bill."

The man sent a bill that read:

Tapping with a hammer ........................ $ 2.00
Knowing where to tap ............................ $ 9998.00

Effort is important, but knowing where to make an effort in your life makes all the difference.

Received this as a forward from my BiL.

Helping Akshaya Rehabilitation Trust Madurai through New Madurai Foundation

Thanks to The Hindu - A Newspaper publication and Ms.Krishnan(Hindu Article author) for photo and part of the article taken and pasted in Madurai Times for a good cause. Thank You...******

THREE YEARS ago a young man on vacation was cycling through the streets of Madurai when he came across a person sitting under a bridge eating his own waste. The stark desperation of the sight shook him profoundly and drastically altered the course of his life.

Today, 23-year-old Krishnan cooks and distributes food to at least a hundred people on the streets of Madurai. Each day he starts at 5.30 a.m. and ends at 10.30 p.m. offering breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Service his style leaves little space for anything else. He doesn't read the newspapers or watch television. He doesn't go out with friends or take vacations. But he can cut a kilo of onions in four minutes flat and make 100 different varieties of pickle. His fragrant, homemade `garam masala' has 30 separate ingredients in it. He regrets nothing.

A week after the encounter under the bridge, Krishnan, known to family and friends as Kishore, resigned from a high-salaried position with a leading luxury hotel in Bangalore. A position he had spent years training for and dreaming of.

"I felt I had unfinished work in Madurai," he says simply.

He returned home and told his anxious family that he intended to feed people on the street, who couldn't feed themselves. He began that very same day, starting with the man under the bridge.

We decided to help Akshaya Krishnan, as part of our efforts on helping downtrodden and under-privileged Madurai to build a New Madurai.

Read the above Article here

We have been helping with Rs.2500 for Akshaya, but we could not give anything for the past 2 months. Please help us for helping Akshaya by - Donating.... After donating, please send a mail to newmadurai@gmail.com, for our reference and records.

Here is a photo of our New Madurai Foundation members handing over the cheque to Akshaya Krishnan.

Thank You

Employment is the key issue in Madurai and Tamil Nadu

“Employment is the single largest issue in all areas in and around Madurai,” P Mohan, a Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPM) MP, said while campaigning in Madurai district.

“Because of the poverty of the region, no one wants to start any new industry here. There were four textile mills which once provided 18,000 jobs, now only 1,500 are employed in these mills. In Madurai, once there were 50,000 handloom workers, now there are only about 3,000. Rural unemployment is the single largest problem today. The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) at a stroke of the pen sacked 10,000 road construction workers, attempted to retrench 200,000 government staff following a general strike,” said.

Pragmatism from Bhagavad Gita

1. Why do you uselessly worry? Of whom are you needlessly afraid? Who can kill you? The Atma is neither born nor does it die.

2. Whatever happened in the past is for your good. Whatever is happening now is also good and whatever happens in the future is, that too, will be good. Do not have regrets about the past. Do not worry about the future. The presence is flowing effortlessly.

3. What have you lost that makes you weep? What did you bring into this life that you have lost? What did you nurture that has been destroyed. You brought nothing into this life and nothing you take while you are here can you take with you when you depart. Whatever you took or gave, you did so only here and only from Bhagavan. You came into the world empty-handed, and will leave empty-handed. What is yours today was another persons yesterday and the day after tomorrow is will belong to someone else. You think all this is yours because you are identified with this existence. Alas, is it this materialistic attachment that is the cause of your unhappiness.

4. Change is the law of the Universe. What you think of as death is actually real life. In a moment you become rich. The next moment you are poor. Yours and mine, small and large, ours and theirs: banish these petty thoughts from your mind! Here everything is yours and you belong to everyone else.

5. Neither is the body yours, nor do you belong to this body. This body is made of the five elements: earth, air, water, fire and space, and someday is will return from whence it came. But the atma is firm and immoral. What then are you?

6. Surrender yourself to the Lord. He will be your greatest help and comfort. The person who knows this is unafraid, does not worry and is free from sorrow.

7. Whatever you do, surrender it at the feet of the Lord. When you do this you will know the bliss of one who is free from the cycle of births and deaths.

Literate Madurai Project

I believe one person is considered as literate, if he/she is able to read/write Tamil. In addition to this if he/she is able to read/write English too, that is great. We will work towards only the first point. Madurai current literacy rate is 79%. While moving towards perfection, we will have to make it 100% literacy. More awareness we have, more we can achieve. As it is universally known, Knowledge is Power. Whenever we think of improving a city, I think first thing we should do is increase the literacy rate. As a next step, increase the number of successful entrepreneurs. That apart, in order to work out 100% literacy rate, we will have to identify, whom we will have to target. The target segments of people for beneficiary are children, youth, men women, senior citizens.

I personally know one of my relatives, who have sent two sons to work, terminating their school studies, while they were performing well in studies.

I would start thinking from why would a parent not send a child to school or why a child would not be interested in coming to school.

1) Ignorance - Many parents are not aware of the importance of education for children and a reading habit of a child.

2) Less Motivation - Due to the ignorance, they feel “what is the use of the education?!”. Parents and children are less motivated about education.

3) Poverty - Since there is not much to feed all of the family members, it is a compulsion to create more earning hands to feed all the mouths. So children are sent to work.

There might be much more, but let us restrict with these points for our focus.
In addition to the children and youth, we will have to educate the adults too, for more awareness, so that we can move forward together.

Educating Women is the most important part in this project. For every society, every woman’s education is very important. If we educate a woman, we educate a family.

Tamil Media is polarized a lot!

Till now, only televisions in tamil nadu were polarized. But now, even newspapers are polarized. There is no popular media, which is non-polarized.

Considering the fact that we are a democratic country, public considers that the media is a very important tool to make some important decisions like voting etc.,

Sun TV has a huge list of media power, which was stated in one of our earlier tamil nadu political news article.

Jaya TV is also associated with a political party.

Now, a low profit earning Tamil Newspaper is taken over by SUN Network and gets it to people for just a rupee! This has made destruction to the future of the other tamil newspapers - dina thanthi(daily thanthi), dinamalar etc.,
If you notice, these newspapers are towards AIADMK these days and against DMK.

Actress Shilpa Shetty and Reema Sen's reaction

Actor Shilpa Shetty reacts to the non-bailable arrest warrant issued against her by a Madurai court.

A local court in Madurai on Friday issued non-bailable warrants against actresses Shilpa Shetty and Reema Sen for 'posing in an obscene manner' in photographs published in a Tamil eveninger.

"I think there are more important and crucial issues that need to be tackled. Such issues certainly don't deserve headlines. And frankly, I haven't received any summons from the court. Even if something like this happens, I have full faith in our judiciary,"she says.

"It's a democratic country. What I do is my concern as long as I know where to draw the line and not offend anybody,"she says and adds as an afterthought, "As far as my photographs go, what is obscene about it? If navel-showing is obscenity, then our traditional Indian outfit - the traditional sari -too should be banned."

So, how does Shilpa define obscenity? "It is the way one perceives it. Sometimes, shooting in the rain can look obscene if it is not shot aesthetically. Or a short skirt can look sexy, if it's shot in a tasteful way. It depends on certain camera angles,"she explains.

Well, what do you think? It is a mistake by the eveninger, but why does the police/court behind this actress!!?? Not sure...

Latest News straight from Madurai

Election Observers withdrawn:

Three election observers have been withdrawn from three constituencies in Madurai district following complaints against them by political parties.

The three observers are Rupram Jowal (Samayanallur), Ameet Jha (Tiruparankunram) and Aswini Kumar (Madurai east) would not be given any election related work in Tamil Nadu or anywhere else.

The Returning of a missing dalit candidate:

The Dalit Makkal Peravai president, P Muthukrishnan, contesting as an independent candidate from the Samayanalur constituency, returned home today after he went missing on April 28. It is claimed that he was kidnapped by the ruling party folks and kept near bangalore.

Voters are confused:

It is found that voters are confused about whom to vote now, considering so many materialistic promises from all the political parties. If one claims to provide 1 KG rice for 2 Rs., another claims to provide 10KGs for free and another for 15 Kgs for free. One gives Color TV, another gives Free mobile phone. One gives unemployement benefits. One gives gold for a poor daughter's marriage. etc., etc.,

Nobody had claimed that they would give employment opportunities, proper education. Well, if we see from a marketing perspective, the market and prospects they are aiming for is just poor people from 54% voting percentage of people.

Only God has to Tamil Nadu!!
