Recently I know someone who had applied for passport renewal or fresh passport.

Madurai police (nearest police station) is supposed to come to your house and check for your presence there with the help of the Photo ID and Address Proof. But, these days the public gets a call from the concerned police station and they ask to come to the police station for the verification.

Then, there in the police station they do the formalities and ask for formalities money! That is around Rs.200 to Rs.couple of thousands, depending upon your status.

This is one way Police gets bribe!! Good innovative way!!!

Madurai Police is doing good and doing their duty - I think

Last weekend, there were many police deployed here and there near our office. We enquired and we heard that there had been many incidents of chain snatching that has happenned in past 2 or 3 days.

I heard today, that the police had caught those criminals today and they are from Muthupatti. Past 20 years, I have heard that the thefts in the TVS Nagar, Alagappan Nagar area is done mostly by some thieves from Muthupatti area.

Good job Madurai Police!!

New SP office in Madurai - Superindendent of Police office

Chief minister J Jayalalithaa inaugurated the fashionable and elegant new office of the Superintendent of Police at Surveyor Colony near Mattuthavani bus stand Madurai through video-conferencing from Chennai on Monday.

She also inaugurated the police station at Thirumangalam that was functioning out of a thickly covered dirty building.

The building was built at a cost of 3.86 crore. The Madurai collector U Sagayam then said the building had several facilities that helped the police department maintain law and order.

We have conference hall and video conference facility. The office, built on three acres of land would house all wings of the police including the forensic department, foreigner registration cell, district crime branch, crime records bureau, bomb detection squad and land grab cell.

Increasing Beggars, Mentally challenged, roadside orphans, old people in Madurai

If you have gone through some main roads in Madurai, you will notice a common scenario around these areas. Some of the areas to coin are - Madurai Bus stands, Madurai Temple areas, Madurai Railway station front and nearby areas, Meenakshi amman temple chithrai streets, Thiruparankundram, Bypass road, Koodal azhagar perumal temple areas, Azhagar Koil area, North Veli Street, Goripalayam areas.

In these areas, there are increasing amount of Beggars, Mentally challenged, roadside orphans, old age people, people from other states begging in different areas.

These people has to be rehabilitated or put them in appropriate orphanages or arrested for any background work of putting children to begging etc., I think this can be only done by Corporation officials, Non-profit organizations in Madurai and Madurai Police Department.

If some action could be taken, that will be helpful. May be corporation could be a partner in these kind of orphanages and fund little bit and have the non-profit organizations to take care of these cases and at most reduce these kind of people in Madurai. This could be a part of Clean Madurai project for Madurai Corporation. Hope someone listens to this advice.

Madurai police SP Asra Garg has come up with a mechanism to file complaints via internet or online via this website Madurai Police Complaints, in which you will have to click on "Mail Your Complaint" link and submit your complaints.

You do not have to go to the police station for this and this is a great mechanism to file or lodge your complaints like missing persons, dead body found unidentified or any other civil and criminal complaints will be addressed via this communication mechanism.

DMK men one by one to be behind bars? - Madurai Mr.Azhagiri's friends party , Mr.K N Nehru, Veerapandi Arumugam, Pottu Suresh, K Thalapathi, SR Gopi

Following the CBI raid in Madurai article, here are some more happenings...

Almost all of them are lodged under Land Grab Cases(except one or two) in Madurai, Trichy, Salem, Villupuram, Chennai etc.,

In Villupuram, Ponmudi is filed by a college official on claims of documents removal from the college office.

In Madurai, SR Gopi, K.Thalapathy, Pottu Suresh (Suresh Babu), Kodi Chandrasekaran, Krishnapandian (most of them are friends of Union Minister Mr.MK Azhagiri/Alagiri) were arrested on a possible land grab case filed by an old couple in Thirumangalam, Madurai.

In Trichy, Mr.KN Nehru and his brother KN Ramajayam are in trouble in claims of a hotel owner being threatened in past for giving off the hotel for a cheaper price.

In Salem, on a land grab case Mr.Veerapandi Arumugam is also on look out.

In Chennai, many more cases are filed as well.

Apart from that well known fact is about Kanimozhi, A Raja are behind bars already for possible cases on 2G scam. Mr.Dayanidhi Maran is on questions by CBI. Mr.Kalanidhi Maran is about to be questioned by CBI - not sure? Also Sun TV CEO Saxena is arrested and being questioned.

I think DMK seems to be in deep trouble overall. Let us wait and see what happens!

Madurai Law and Order Assistant Commissioner Karthikeyan has been transferred to Nagapattinam division. Kanyakumari Crime division DSP Duraisamy has been appointed as new Assistant Commissioner in Madurai.

If you notice, I have put a question for the above statement. I am not sure, but I have a doubt on this.

Ladies who are divorced, separated, away from their husband (abroad), or single woman or house having only ladies. Is it safe in madurai?

There is always a thinking that the house is being watched by strangers and will they do the theft someday or any kind of crime someday?

Does Madurai safe enough? Most of the rowdies get funding either by kandhu vatti or via theft or political activities.

Please answer me, if Madurai is safe enough? Your experiences will be helpful to come up to some complaints to Madurai Commissioner, if any.

Madurai traffic police gets a/c kiosks

First time in the country madurai traffic police gets a/c kiosks.

There is an anonymous NGO providing this facility to only Madurai traffic police.
Lucky Madurai traffic police!!!!!

Due to overheat of Madurai with almost 42 degrees celcius, there is no safe and healthy work environment for Madurai traffic police.
Hence this gift for them. Moreover, this kiosk is wheeled so it can be moved to a different place based on the traffic and the tragfic can be controlled while sitting inside this kiosk.

Good for madurai traffic police. We appreciate the NGO who donated this, but it would be ideal if this comes through state budget.
