Last weekend, there were many police deployed here and there near our office. We enquired and we heard that there had been many incidents of chain snatching that has happenned in past 2 or 3 days.

I heard today, that the police had caught those criminals today and they are from Muthupatti. Past 20 years, I have heard that the thefts in the TVS Nagar, Alagappan Nagar area is done mostly by some thieves from Muthupatti area.

Theft, Killings and Crimes in Madurai for gold, mobile and money

Always Poverty leads to Theft and Crime very easily.

When there is no money for food, no money to pay back the loan lenders, you become frustrated and do not know what to do to rectify the issue. There are positive ways of handling the problem of loans and poverty. Discuss within your family, divide the debt or work very hard to pay back the loan in a much smarter way. Talk to the loaner and come up with a deal for a win-win solution.

Having said some positive ways, youngsters from these families who are frustrated about life and wants to make fast money - they end up with Crime, Theft and even kill somebody to get money.

These days, an individual on the road at the least carries a cell phone, which is definitely worth more than Rs.1000 for sure. So, for the thief or the youngster who is involved in crime ends up doing anything for that money.

Given the cost of Gold today, even one gram is almost Rs.2000, which is lot of money. In today's scenario, many wear lot of jewellery, which costs more than Rs.10,000 to the minimum. So, it becomes very tempting for the thief. However, we cannot say do not wear jewellery to general public. Crime is crime!

In Madurai, killings has become lot more countable this year due to poverty in one side, while we have people becoming better and prosperous.

Law and Order can be maintain to only to a certain limit only - since we will have limited police resources for the number of people we have in Madurai. It is only people who should change for better and avoid crimes and become better.

Killing for maanam, killings of jewellery shop owner, killings of pawn shop owner, killings of individual just for a mobile phone, threatening individuals to withdraw money from ATMs etc., has increased not only in Madurai, but also in other parts of Tamil Nadu.

Keep watchful in one side and be safe! On other hand, thieves should change themselves for better. In Tamil, there is a saying - "Thirudanaai paarthu thirundhaa vittaal thiruttai Ozhikka mudiyaadhu" - Crimes cannot be contained, until the thieves realize themselves.

One another interesting factor I forgot to mention - Almost 70% of these thefts are performed by new comers in the "field". That definitely tells me some statistics!

Madurai Meenakshi Kumbabishekam leads to 48 sovereigns of gold missing?

Madurai Meenakshi Kumbabishekam leads to 48 sovereigns of gold missing?

As we all know, yesterday was the grand celebration and dharshan of Madurai Meenakshmi Kumbabishekam. However, very few is aware of the thefts relating to the crowd in Madurai.

The Hindu reports in an article(48 sovereigns of gold missing in 48 hours) that - there were 48 sovereigns of gold missing in 48 hours in Madurai. Isn't that telling a message to us?

What is the problem here?
Is it because of too much crowd in Madurai in 2 days - that the size of the district?
Is it because there is unemployment growing in Madurai?
Is it because of destructive lazy people growing or already living in Madurai?
Or to think bad - is it one way of earning for Police?
or is it because the ratio of police to people is too less?

Better Police catches these folks sooner or later!
