In a meeting conducted in MADITSSIA Hall for Self-Employment and the Government favours for the self-employment initiatives of Tiny, Small and Medium sized businesses in Madurai - Madurai Collector U Sagayam had explained about his opinions about Self-Employment and Employment under somebody.

Madurai Collector U Sagayam says - "I cannot give job to everyone, but best thing and easy thing for that would be to start your own business. Many people come and ask me for job in Madurai, but what I say to them is start your own business and do not expect anything. Only when you are poor you realize and enjoy the actual meaning of life".

Even government is willing to support the self-employment initiatives in Madurai. Hence it would be good for everyone to start their own business, instead of looking for a job. If we start business, economy of Madurai, India would improve. If we start business, lot of people would be benefitted, since you will be giving job to many more people, for running your business.

Employment Exchange Helping Cash in Hand - very less people to receive it?!

There was a news in Dinamalar in which these days very less people are coming and receiving the unemployment cash from the government.

When a candidate registers with the Employment Exchange, depending upon the graduation or education an amount is given to the candidate. For degree holders, Rs.300, for +2 Rs.200, for 10th SSLC Rs.150 and much lesser education gets Rs.100.

These days, there is very less response for this it seems. The reason is quoted as due to increasing cost of living, this amount/cash seems to be of less value. The government is proposed to increase the amount, like the way the retirement fund is done.

But, I strongly oppose that and I see a positive light here. May be the candidates are not collecting because even though they register with the employment exchange, they also get jobs easily and they want to work and do not rely on the free cash provided by the government.

Professional and Executive Employment Exchange Madurai Chennai - No need to travel to Madurai or Chennai

So far, registration of engineering graduates is done at professional and executive employment offices at Chennai and Madurai. Each office caters to graduates from 16 districts in southern and northern Tamil Nadu. Now, in order to save time, avoid stress and transport expenditure, it is proposed that these engineering candidates can approach their local district employment exchanges for online registration.

Engineering graduates who have completed their BE and BTech examinations can register their qualification with the respective district employment office instead of travelling either to Chennai or Madurai where the professional and executive employment offices are located.

This was done by integrating the database of the employment exchange with the database of the School Education Department.

1. How to register online?

On clicking the candidate’s corner, an E-registration form is displayed. Fill up all the details and scan the required certificates and submit the form. On submission, a temporary ‘used id’ and ‘password’ will be created. Within 7 days, if the details are accurate, your request will be accepted by the Employment Officer, your ID card can be generated. You can take print out and maintain it.

2. How to register additional qualification?

Click the additional online option, scan the certificate of the qualification you wish to add and submit it. Within 7 days, if the details are accurate, your request will be accepted by the Employment Officer, your ID card can be generated. You can take print out and maintain it.

3. Can renewal be done online?

Yes. Renewal can be done online. Renewal has to be done once in 3 years, i.e. the month preceding, the month of his/her initial registration and the two succeeding months. If the candidate fails to renew within the stipulated time, the candidate is given 18 months time excluding the due month of his/her renewal.

4. How shall I know whether my application for registration is accepted or rejected?

Using your temporary registration number as ‘user id’ and date of birth as ‘password’, the status of the application for registration can be known.

5. Is change of address possible online?

Yes. Candidates themselves can change the address.

6. Can I register my ‘Priority Certificate’ online?

Since ‘Priority Certificates’ like Land acquisition need confirmation as to it’s genuineness, the candidate cannot register any Priority Certificate online instead he has to send xerox copies of certificates by post or in person.

7. What kind of employment opportunity can I expect?

All State / State Quasi / Central / Central Quasi / Local Body and Government Aided Institutions fulfill their manpower requirements through candidates nominated by the Employment Offices where seniority is main criteria. For Central Government vacancies bio-data of candidates are collected from open market simultaneously.

8. How can a ousted person register?

Persons nominated through Employment Offices and ousted for want of vacancy have to approach the Employment Offices within 90 days from the ousted date to retain their original seniority.

9. If I am a post graduate, where should I submit the application form whether in Chennai or Madurai ?

If you belong to the Districts of Chennai, Kancheepuram, Thiruvallur, Vellore, Thiruvannamalai, Cuddalore, Villupuram, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Trichy, Tanjaur, Thiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri and Salem you have to submit the application to Chennai, Professional and Executive Employment Office and others to Madurai Branch of Professional and Executive Employment Office.

10. How many qualification can I register at a time ?

At a time you can register any number of qualification. Subsequently if you acquire any additional qualification or experience, you can register it online.

11. How shall I set right my records if there are any discrepancies?
