How to beat summer in the hot places in Tamil Nadu?

As you know as soon as you get out of your home (at least it is assumed that you have fan in house), it sweats a lot, head aches and your mouth gets dried. These are definitely symptoms of hot summer in our town. Even though it is torture in some ways, we can enjoy summer in lot many ways in our town.

In other hand, summers are usually enjoyed in foreign countries, but we think it as pain. But, never mind that is how it is.

Well, how to beat the summer heat and how to enjoy at the same time?

If you are in South Madurai, you can see lot of vendors lined up just near the Madura College and Tamil Nadu Poly technic college.

Sugarcane Juice vendors - they squeeze the lemon with the white sugar cane and give you with or without ice - and very sweet and cold Sugar cane juices. In fact, there are shops which provide more flavoured sugar cane juices.

Big big Watermelon has come out these days. The combination of Green, white and Red color with black spots in it. Awesome - when the vendor cuts it nicely and sprays salt and chilli powder and you eat with fork on the road - awesome taste:)

Next is as usual, Tender coconut - you ask for more water which is sweet and also say that you want Vazhukkai (that means not proper coconut, but a light layer of cocounut), that gives the taste to the tender coconut water as well. It is great. My daughter loves it! We do it as a family activity and we three love it - my wife, my daughter and I.

Apart from that you get fresh juice and bottled juice or soft drinks of course.

And at last, if you are alcohol lover, obviously you know what are the options you have;) Have B**r with green grapes in the mid summer and mid-day in an A/C room and then as a completion to the lunch you have a chicken/mutton biriyani. Isn't that a complete lunch;)? Just kidding - don't follow this unless you are an alcohol lover!

Zoo in Madurai - Zoological Park in Madurai is planned

It is being in plans for getting a zoological park in Madurai very soon.

State government has approved for zoological park in Madurai and even location were also examined it seems. A location near Nagamalai Pudukkottai seems to be suitable for the living beings, according to the temperature, water availability etc.,

Looks like the Central Government has to approve.

Given the scenario that Chennai and Trivandrum has these kinds of parks and this fetches good amount of income to the government, it will be a good idea to get a zoo in Madurai. This will get some income for sure for the government.

People are looking for entertainment in Madurai and this will be educational for students and children! Great move... please execute it!!

Apart from Rajaji park, Athisayam and other clubs in Madurai, Madurai Eco Park is a successful project from Madurai Corporation.

Madurai Eco Park sprawling over 5.5 acres of land is a leisure spot for all age groups. Located at the western end of Anna Maligai, the park was set up and developed by the Madurai Corporation. Apart from its 124 varieties of herbal trees, the park houses more than five hundred varieties of small and big shade giving trees. The major highlight of the park is the tallest artificial fountain that pumps water up to 110 feet and the four optic fiber illuminated trees. There is a minimal fee for entry to the park. Now it is probably Rs.2, I guess.

The park situated near city corporation building where the lighting and fountain arrangements are impressive and the illuminated optic fiber trees add luster to the beauty. The computerized fountain was built costing Rs.13 lakhs.
