Sanand Ford and Tata Cars Manufacturing unit - why not in Madurai, Tuticorin, Tirunelveli, Nagercoil, Kanyakumari, Trichy etc.,

As an Indian I am very happy that Tata (back in 2008) and Ford in July 2011 had decided to choose Gujarat's Sanand for its manufacturing facility. However, from other areas developmental perspective, here are some views -

Chennai is supposed to be the Automobile hub and there is where all the manufacturing units come and settle down. How come it is going to some other state in India? What is Tamil Nadu Government doing in all these? Well, the Government does not have enough time to do such projects proactively, while they are busy fighting between other parties. This is the case all the time.

If Chennai was supposed to be very expensive for such large manufacturing projects, I am sure the Government could have proposed lands in southern districts of Tamil Nadu. This is totally unacceptable. Government cannot just work on the projects which are being approached. The administration should be proactive enough to find out what are the projects coming around and who is looking for lands or projects in India as Foreign Direct Investment.

I take this opportunity that the South Tamil Nadu is completely being ignored and I say this via Madurai247.com and this is totally unacceptable. There is lot of potential to be tapped in Southern Tamil Nadu.

Sanand is nothing but a Municipality and not even a Corporation. Similar Municipalities are available very much in the Southern districts down south to Madurai like Virudhunagar, Kovilpatti, near by Tirunelveli, near by Tutucorin etc.,

I strongly condemn the previous and current Tamil Nadu Governments for loosing the project to some other state for both Tata and Ford projects. Ford's project is a Rs.4000 crores project and gives around 5000 possible jobs. Tata project was also similar to that.

Hope this article is noticed by appropriate government officials or ministries of Tamil nadu.

Note: This article is directed only for Tamil Nadu Government for improving the state and in other hand I am definitely glad for the project deployed in India(it does not matter which state) as an India.

Passport Seva Kendras in Madurai and Tirunelveli to function by July 2011

Passport Seva Kendras in Madurai and Tirunelveli would be started next month, said Jose K. Mathew, Regional Passport Officer-Madurai.

These two Passport Seva Kendras were among 77 being established across the country.

Mr. Mathew said that the passport office functioning near the Lotus Tank on Bharati Ula Road in K. Pudur would continue to function as a back office. People could submit their applications at the Kendras in Madurai and Tirunelveli once they started functioning; the date of inauguration would be known after getting the audit compliance reports. Everything else like fees remains the same.

The Madurai Region comprises Madurai, Theni, Dindigul, Ramanathapuram, Sivaganga, Virudhunagar, Tirunelveli, Tuticorin and Kanyakumari districts.

The Tirunelveli Passport Seva Kendra will serve residents of districts in the other deep southern parts of Tamil Nadu.

Tight vigil is being maintained in Tamil Nadu and extra forces have been deployed in sensitive cities like Coimbatore and Tirunelveli ahead of the verdict on the Ayodhya title suit tomorrow, a top police official said.

"The entire state police of about one lakh has been mobilised and we are deploying additional forces at hyper- sensitive places such as Coimbatore, Tirunelveli, Madurai, Kanyakumari, Vellore and Hosur among others," ADGP (Law and Order) K Radhakrishnan told PTI here today.

As we have lesser force of policemen, compared to the people - I am guessing this is necessary. But with another perspective, is Government doing too much for if nothing wrong will happen?

Multi-product SEZ in Tirunelveli: Nanguneri Project: Nearby districts of Madurai

A memorandum of understanding to establish a multi-product first Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Nanguneri, Tirunelveli, was signed in presence of Chief Minister M Karunanidhi at the Secretariat Thursday.

The estimated Rs 15,000 crore project will be implemented by Tamilnadu government with assistance from Tamilnadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO) on 2,520 acres and aims to provide employment to 70,000 people. This is great for both job seekers and for the potential entrepreneurs.

The project would be jointly executed by TIDCO, AMR group of companies and AMRL International Tech City Ltd. The products that would be manufactured here include spareparts for engineering and medical utilities, electrical and electronic products, information technology, along with biological products and transportation units in the first phase.

Madurai to contribute to TN(Tamil Nadu) software exports in year 2009

The special economic zones for IT-ITeS industry in Coimbatore, Madurai, Tiruchirapalli, Salem, Tirunelveli, Hosur and Vellore announced by the state government were with an intention of increasing the software exports, Tamil Nadu State Chief Minister Karunanidhi said.

Tamil Nadu's software exports are expected to cross Rs 26,000 crore during the current fiscal, state Chief Minister said in Chennai. Rs 14,400 crore in 2005-06, rose to Rs 20,700 crore during the previous fiscal.

It is expected to rise again to Rs.26000 Crore for the year 2009.
