Indian Research Lab in Theni West Bodi Hills Madurai Find Dark Matter underground Neutrino Observatory Lab

Indian physicists have decided to offer a proposed underground laboratory in southern India to an international science consortium looking for dark matter, an invisible form of matter that represents one of cosmology’s biggest mysteries.

The proposed India-based Neutrino Observatory (INO) is expected to be built 1.2km beneath the Bodi West hills, about 110km from Madurai, by 2015. It will be pitched as a potential site for the search for dark matter, the INO’s programme management committee has decided.

From Calcutta (Kolkata) and New Delhi.
