Vandiyur Kanmoy Land Pond to have boats for Tourist Attraction addition in Madurai

Madurai Corporation to add one more tourist attraction in Madurai, which is an extension of naturally formed tourist attraction in Madurai.

Already we have Madurai Meenakshi Temple, Thirumalai Naicker Mahal, Azhagar Koil etc., in Madurai as tourist attractions, and now Vandiyur Kanmoy is going to be digged further down for more than 25 feets so that boats can function and tourist can enjoy boat rides inside this pond in Madurai.

Previously in 1988-89, there were boats functioning, but due to some reason this was stopped. JNNURM has allocated around Rs.40 crores, but the local agency rejected it. Later only Rs.3 crores were allocated and now the boat project is going to be launched soon.
