Radaan to open Acting School in Madurai and Trichy with partnership with Actor Prepares
Chennai-based Radaan Mediaworks India Ltd, run by actress Radhikaa Sarath Kumar, has joined hands with Anupam Kher's acting school, "Actor Prepares", to set up an acting school in Chennai. The new school would also expand in tier II and III cities in the south as well as in Malaysia. Company chairperson and managing director Radikaa Sarath Kumar said, “This will be a diversification for the company into education”.
“Both the Cinema industry and Radaan Mediaworks India Ltd is facing talent crunch. This expansion of education centres for acting would address it. The first school will come up at T Nagar, Chennai.
H Narayana Swamy, chief financial officer, Radaan Mediaworks India Ltd, said investment would be around Rs 25-30 lakh, which does not include land and building. This would be sufficient to set up the school in an area of 4,000-5,000 sft.
Going forward, we will focus on tier II cities like Tiruchi and Madurai and also South East Asian countries like Singapore and Malaysia and Newyork, with the help of local partners.
Anupam Kher's Actor Prepares has a fee for the three-month diploma course as Rs 1.4 lakh. At present "Actor Prepares" has four centres and is planning to add 4-5 in the next two years.
Actor Prepares, has operations in Ahmedabad, Chandigrah and now in Chennai. Till now, around 500 students have been trained, Aupam Kher said.
Comment by the Editor: This is a great move, because many of the secondary Actors, Technicians, Directors come from tier-II cities. There is a great potential to be tapped in these cities. Even there are other companies opening centers to collect talent pools like Dr.Srinivasan Lathika Pictures opened office in Madurai Alagappan Nagar couple of months ago. This is only a small thing, but there is definitely some move in terms of human resource potential from Madurai and Trichy etc., This is already existing potential and it is recently being understood.
It is great time to realize this potential and do the required to tap and benefit from the potential for everyone.
