HIV positive cases Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Namakkal, Salem, Madurai and Theni districts - Madurai Health

On an average 100 to 120 HIV positive cases are detected every month in Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Namakkal, Salem, Madurai and Theni districts, according G. Karunanidhi, founder member, Tamilnadu Networking People, a non-governmental organisation (NGO) working among HIV/AIDS patients.

Mr. Karunanidhi said the HIV/AIDS affected were between 25 and 45 years.

The state government should make concerted efforts to combat the disease in these districts. He said rural areas had a high concentration of AIDS cases compared to urban areas.
