Madurai Passport Office Corruption - Officials arrested

The news yesterday about Madurai Passport office is that there has been arrests of couple of passport officials for corruption and passport racket.

Can you imagine the corruption officials include women also? These officials have corrupted with bribes almost Rs.25 lakhs and produced passports on Tatkal.

The 3 officials involved in this were arrested yesterday by CBI. What a disgrace!

Such an important position and this might involve any national threat also, by issuing passports illegally. How could this happen?

This incident arises a question in my mind - Does Madurai need a passport office or any kind of branch office - if the officials behave in this way? (This article is aiming at only corrupt officials and I am sure there are majority of sincere and clean officials).

Anyway, Grow up Madurai!!

  • What Madurai will do for the Central Government Employees' action?! Those officers have been posted by Central Government not by Madurai Corporation.

    If we think in that way CBI arrested officers from Chennai passport office as well, SHALL WE REMOVE PASSPORT OFFICE FROM CHENNAI?

    Even though the officials are appointed by central government, the passport office is functioning in Madurai.

    I believe everything functioning in Madurai has to be clean and perfect without corruption! I believe that kind of environment has to be created in all the offices in Madurai. That is the hope and wish we are talking about.

    It does not matter if the officials are from a different place or not.

    Say for example - if there is an american consulate in Madurai - I would expect the office to be a great service place and should not be a place of crap.

    I think it is about Madurai people, environment etc., Fear of corruption has to be there...

  • Madurai is not a developed metropolitan city as you think the infrastructure has to be changed, which will take ages to restructure the city with government mechanism.

    We cannot change everything overnight. I was living in Chennai for about 10 years and I've moved to Madurai before two years. I had all the facilities in Chennai but now not much but I'm happy to be in Madurai.

    Nobody likes to pribe but the situation pushes them to get the things done quickly by pribing. Touch your heart and say you never pribed anyone until today?

    Anyone can speak but keeping up the words are hard.

    As long as people are there to pribe, officials will get let it be Madurai, Chennai etc.

    We need to wait for a child to grow in healthier way!

    I am not sure where you are getting to. I am not sure why are you arguing about this. I don't understand why you are supporting the corrupt officials? If it is wrong - it has to be outright said it is wrong!!

    I am a dreamer and that too a positive dreamer. I know it is not going to happen overnight, but I and many like me are wishing it to happen sooner. I don't believe in negative thoughts!

    It is my and many people's dream to have Madurai to be an improved city with all amenities. People - do you agree?

    Is it wrong to wish for sooner improvement? I wish you also support this mission and instead negative thoughts does not lead anywhere.

    We have a passion for Madurai and its improvement and we wish it will happen one day.

    I am not supporting corrupted officials. I am just against for your say that we need to remove the Passport office from Madurai.

    Is it not a negative thought?!

    Madurai residents will go to Trichy for applying passports?!

    We need to help Madurai to improve not by restricting the growth!

    I am just against for that thought! Rest all I agree with you.

    Just a debate not an argument!
