How to apply for new passport or reissue or renewal of passport in Madurai

From June 30, 2011, the applications of six districts including Theni, Dindigul, Madurai, Virudhunagar, Ramanathapuram and Sivaganga would be processed only at Kochadai Office in Madurai.

To know the position, applicants can send an SMS from any mobile number to 9442151518 in the following format: STAT File number (as given in the receipt). The main features of the new service is, if the applicant has given his/her mobile number in column 9 of the application, automated message will be sent to the applicant every time there is a progress in its status.Moreover, if the applicant has not given his/her mobile number in the application, the individual can send the message from any mobile number and receive a reply. Madurai Passport Office caters to applicants from Madurai, Dindigul, Theni, Sivaganga, Ramanathapuram, Virudhunagar, Tirunelveli, Tuticorin and Kanyakumari districts.
