10 Pillar Street in Madurai - Madurai Tourism

A curious remnant of a row of ten pillars that measure 50 feet in length. Made of granite, these pillars are believed to be a part of the grand entrance to the Rangavilasm- a now demolished portion of the Thirumalai Nayakar Mahal. What is amazing is the fact that today, the pillars form a part of a completely opposite scenario. It stands tall among houses, huts, tea stalls, small shops etc. One can see people walking and children playing nonchalantly around what was perhaps the most regal entrance/ doorway that existed in Madurai.
