Madurai Tourism: Golf Carts around Madurai Meenakshi Temple
In a few months, battery-powered ‘golf carts,’ in which VIPs and foreign dignitaries are often seen, can be spotted on the four Chithirai Streets that surround the Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple here.
Madurai Collector S.S.Jawahar told The Hindu that golf carts would be around soon. This project was delayed, due to Chithirai Festival.

Its great to hear this. Actually when you see the chitrai streets before, they used to be a lot of crowd (especially in the evenings). What they have done is they have put slabs instead of the road and it looks nice. If Parking is not allowed there, then it is a good idea. But alternatingly they the corporation have to make arrangements for proper parking for the tourists and other shopping people. It is a fantastic welcome move towards encouraging tourism in madurai. :-) (Happy to write about madurai!!!!!!!!!!!)
