Vaigai Express Madurai

I like Vaigai Super Fast Express, which goes from Madurai to Chennai.

This express train starts at 6:30 in the morning from Madurai. If I want to go to Trichy, this is an excellent train. I wake up around 5:15 am and get ready and come to the Madurai train station around 6 AM.

The train starts at 6:30 AM and reaches Dindigul at 7:30 AM. Then the train goes to Trichy at 8:40 AM. Without much effort I reach Trichy. Moreover, the train travel is great.

On the way, natural scenes are really nice. The train station is just couple of kilometers from my house, so it is easy to reach Railway station as well.

Also - If i have to travel by bus, I have to go all the way to Mattuthavani. This is far away for me. Even though the Roadways Bypass road is awesome, the road travel by Bus is sickening.

At any case, I am enjoying Madurai and Vaigai Express.

Honeywell gets 4.5 acres of land on Madurai - Madurai software company

Honeywell Tech gets 4.5 acres land in Madurai IT SEZ Park

CHENNAI: Bangalore based IT company, Honeywell Technology Solutions, has been allotted 4.5 acres of land in the upcoming IT-SEZ Park at Illandhikulam village near Madurai on lease by state-owned Electronic Corporation of Tamil Nadu (ELCOT).

The 99 year lease deed was signed today between Honeywell Technology Solutions Lab and ELCOT, an official release said.

Honeywell is slated to commence their construction activities after obtaining the necessary approvals, it said.

ELCOT is developing the IT-SEZ Park in an area of 28.91 acre at an investment of close to Rs 32 crore. Besides, ELCOT has constructed an IT building in the IT SEZ at an estimated cost of Rs 16 crore.

The park would provide 10,000 direct employment and 20,000 indirect employment in the next five year period attracting investments to the tune of Rs 400 crore, the release added. - PTI

SIDA Meet at Dot Com Infoway Madurai

The Annual Planning Meeting of SIDA (Software Industries Development Association of South Tamil Nadu) was held at the premises of Dot Com Infoway’s Madurai office on December 22, 2010.

SIDA (Software Industries Development Association of South Tamil Nadu) was formally launched in October 2010 with the primary objective of supporting local software services companies to achieve international standards and thereby, create a conducive environment for Information Technology in South Tamil Nadu, India. As a part of the forum’s activities, an Annual Planning Meeting was held at Dot Com Infoway’s Madurai office premises recently, on December 22, 2010.

The President of SIDA, Mr. R. Sivarajah of Winways Systems Private Limited welcomed the members and briefed the establishment process of the forum and spelled out objectives of the meeting. He also briefed on the work plan for the year 2011. The Secretary of SIDA, Mr. Ashwin Desai of A&T Network Systems announced the proposed structure of the forum, including that of the chairpersons for SIDA’s various panels.

The office bearers for the year 2011 will be as follows: Mr. R. Sivarajah – President; Mr. A. Kathirkamanathan and Mr. C. R. Venkatesh as Vice Presidents; Mr. Ashwin Desai as Secretary; Mr. Shivakumar as Joint Secretary; and Mr. P.Varadarajan as Treasurer. The panel for Human Resource Development will be headed by Mr. C. R. Venkatesh while Mr. A. Kathirkamanathan will be the Head of Finance and Fund Raising panel. Mr. Srinivasan will lead the panel for Business Operations Support and Mr. S. Radhakrishnan will be panel head for Business Development.

The members of SIDA discussed about various issues related to the software industry in South Tamil Nadu. They demanded Elcot to provide projects related to South Tamil Nadu to the software industries located there. They also planned to organize a Road Show in Chennai and Bangalore as a step for brand creation. The members were also advised to purchase land in Madurai SEZ with a vision to form a cluster in the near future.

As the Chairperson of HRD, Mr. C. R. Venkatesh of Dot Com Infoway handled a session on Human Resource problems faced in a tier II city like Madurai. He said that the best and usual method for hiring is through job portals and people mostly hire from other cities like Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Kochi. The company has to offer outstation candidates a relocation bonus, in addition to the allowances for food and accommodation. So, to tackle this problem, “70 percent of the employees are appointed as freshers” in his company, he added. Further, in his speech he said, “Poaching is a main problem here in Madurai and we should stand united to curb it.” Other members also shared their views about the united initiatives SIDA needs to take to curb problems faced by IT companies in Madurai and South Tamil Nadu.

ESTIMATE OF VACANCIES
The Heads of the Departments of Police, Fire and Rescue Services and Prison will intimate the estimated number of vacancies to the Government in the respective categories by September every year for which recruitment has to be conducted for next year by the Tamil Nadu Uniformed Services Recruitment Board on the orders of the Government.
NOTIFICATION OF VACANCIES
The TNUSRB will release notification calling for applications from the eligible candidates and the notification may be prepared in consultation with the Heads of Departments concerned. In the notification the methodology of selection, the pre-requisite condition of age and educational qualification will be mentioned.
PROCESSING OF APPLICATIONS
The TNUSRB has prescribed different format of application for each category of recruitment after taking into account the pre-requisite qualifications and service conditions. Application fee by way of Demand Draft shall be payable by the candidates at the rates fixed by the Government. Currently the following fees are fixed as application fees:-
i) For S.I. of Police including Women S.I and S.I (Technical) : Rs. 250/-
ii) For Gr. II Police Constables / Firemen / Jail Warders : Rs. 150/-

Candidates are permitted to send only one application. Application for more than one centre is summarily rejected. The candidates should possess the educational qualification and age as prescribed in the notification for recruitment. The candidates who satisfy the age and educational qualifications alone are called for tests, for which individualcall letters are sent to the candidates by the Chairman of Sub-Committee of respective centre. The candidates, whose applications have been rejected due to their not satisfying the age and educational qualifications, will forfeit the application fee remitted by them. They will not be informed of their rejection individually.
